The Everyday Essential
Macrum distills the collective knowledge of our bladesmiths into a line of hand-finished culinary knives designed for the everyday work of cooking.
Every detail has a purpose. The blade geometry delivers precise, efficient performance, 14C28N high-carbon stainless steel offers durability and responsiveness through its edge retention and rust resistance, and the black lace burl micarta handles feature vivid liners and ivory-toned inlay, giving each knife a distinctive look and feel.
Hand-Finished Tools
A tool used in the hand should be finished by hand.
That’s why Macrum’s production is streamlined but the finishing work stays personal. Our bladesmiths complete the final stages of grinding and handle finishing by hand, then sharpen every knife individually on a Japanese water stone.

SECONDSBURNSIDE CHEF
Named for Portland’s iconic Burnside Bridge, the Burnside is the everyday workhorse of the Macrum collection. Its 7.25-inch blade has a generous height that provides stability and control throughout the length of the knife, while its low tip and robust geometry carry that control all the way to the point. It’s the knife you reach for when there’s a lot to do: chopping, slicing, breaking down ingredients, and everything in between.
ST. JOHNS VEGETABLE
The St. Johns takes its name from the photogenic bridge that connects Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood to the west side. Its broad, rectangular blade gives you plenty of surface area for chopping vegetables and produce, while the thin edge keeps each cut clean and controlled. It’s substantial without being cumbersome, and it’s particularly well suited to the everyday rhythm of the kitchen.
FREMONT UTILITY
Named for the Fremont Bridge, one of Portland’s major east-west thoroughfares, the Fremont is built for the in-between jobs. Its intermediate blade length and shorter blade height make it nimble and precise, while its higher tip gives you added control when working with smaller ingredients on the board. When you don’t need the size of a chef knife or the delicacy of a paring knife, the Fremont finds the middle ground.
Tilikum paring
The newest of Portland’s bridges, Tilikum Crossing, is designed around people moving through the city on foot, by bike, and by public transportation. The Tilikum takes a similarly intentional approach to movement. Its slender blade and relatively straight edge make peeling and trimming feel controlled and natural, while the narrow tip handles delicate detail work with precision. It’s the knife for the things that happen off the board — and the little jobs that reward a careful hand.
Made to be used
The Macrum line is designed to be reached for every day. Because a knife should get better with use, every Macrum includes complimentary lifetime sharpening.
Macrum knives can also be personalized with engraving, whether you’re gifting a knife or making it unmistakably yours.
