Lifetime

Sharpening

We offer complimentary stone sharpening on all of our knives for the life of the blade.

If you follow our care instructions, you’ll be able to enjoy your knife for many years. But accidents happen (even to experienced bladesmiths and cooks), and we’re here to help if they do. A fumble that ends in your knife on the ground or an unexpected encounter with a bone, hard surface, or abrasive material can compromise the appearance or structural integrity of your blade. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your blade needs repair or regular sharpening.

In the event you can’t drop off and pick up at the forge in Portland, we ask that you cover applicable shipping costs.

We’d be happy to sharpen knives from other companies. The fee to stone sharpen a non-Acre knife is $25 per blade plus shipping.

If you’re sending us a knife for sharpening or repair, you can use its original box or carefully wrap the blade in butcher paper, bubble wrap, folded cardboard, or a towel. If you don’t have a saya or a blade guard, take extra care to protect the tip.

Secure the wrapping with tape or rubber bands, then place the knife in a sturdy cardboard box with plenty of padding to protect it during transit.

We recommend insuring your package and requesting tracking information from your carrier. Please send us the tracking number along with the expected delivery date and time.

Our Promise
When you send us your knife for sharpening, you can trust that one of our bladesmiths will assess its condition and use their best judgement when determining whether any refurbishment is recommended. If sharpening or refurbishment may result in any perceptible cosmetic changes to your knife, we will discuss those changes with you in advance and obtain your approval before proceeding.

By choosing to proceed with this service, you authorize the agreed-upon sharpening and refinements to your knife and acknowledge that the work may result in changes to its appearance or condition. This means you agree to accept the completed work as performed and waive any claims or recourse arising from the agreed-upon sharpening or refurbishment.
